The Asset Beacon Tag supports both static and dynamic tracking applications for managing computers, inventory items and equipment. The Tag periodically transmits a beacon signal to confirm the location of the asset whether moving or stationary. Beaconing can be set for variable time intervals, up to 24 hours between beacons. When the asset moves through a control point, it responds like any other asset tag.

The Asset Beacon Tag also provides automatic wireless sensor monitoring; eliminating costly, cumbersome cable infrastructure and allowing sensors to be utilized in difficult-to-access locations.

Sensors can be external to the tag or integrated inside the tag case. For example, a "temperature beacon" version of the asset tag uses an on-board circuit inside the case to measure ambient temperature. Readings are taken every 10 minutes and transmit only if the temperature has fallen outside a pre-set high/low threshold criterion. If no exceptions occur, temperature data is transmitted during the normal one-hour beacon cycle.

The Beacon Tag supports a wide variety of standard and custom wireless monitoring applications. Using the tag's programmable processor, conditions such as open/closed, on/off, motion, vibration, pressure, etc. can be monitored.

When used in conjunction with ActiveTrac™ software, the system can maintain a list of assets or inventory items, including their location and temperature; alerting the operator to movements or change in status.
